With a little one on the way, I’ve restricted how far I travel lately. Cape to Cape was too far and risky, so it was a great excuse to check out the Jindabyne trails, which are now becoming renowned. I’ve been hanging to check out East Jindy, Bungarra and the Thredbo to Crackenback river trail. And I just love being in the NSW Snowy Mountains any time, regardless of that I’m doing.
I wasn’t disappointed either. The Snowy Triple Trail (hosted by Rolling Ground) offered everything a mountain biker could want – amazing trails in amazing scenery, a really well run event with a social and casual atmosphere, and some solid competition to make sure you’re kept on your toes.
I felt pretty trashed the whole weekend (effects of hay fever and over training), but I had such a blast with the Onyabike crew that I found it easy enough to push through it. I did win the 3 stages and the overall, and I did have more fun than I’ve had in a long time, so I’ll be back next year for sure!
As for the actual race, why write a race report when Chris Giuliano wrote a ripper on The Berm. Photos below by Steve Cuff.
